Valentine’s day is here again, and love is in the air. Couples all around the world will be rushing home from work to spend a romantic evening with their significant other in a celebration of love that Valentine’s Day has become famous for.
Creating a romantic evening each year can become a challenge. You may want to go bigger than last year but are struggling to think of new and exciting ways to make an impression. Some of us are just terrible at being romantic: Don’t worry, we are going to share with you the tips you need to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember:
Some people may like to receive a dozen red roses and a stuffed teddy bear at work whilst others literally cringe at the thought. If your S.O hates flowers, then don’t get flowers. If they aren’t a fan of stuffed animals, don’t buy them a giant one holding a stuffed heart.
Valentine’s Day is all about recreating the things you and your partner love. You don’t need to shower them with gifts if all they really want is a nice sit-down dinner and time spent together. Even those who claim to be ‘anti-Valentines’ aren’t ‘anti-love’, they just like to celebrate differently.
Don’t tell your partner you aren’t getting them anything in an attempt to surprise them as this usually leads to one person feeling guilty about not getting you something in return, or simply fretting over how much to spend on your gift. Maybe both of you won’t want to exchange gifts at all but do something nice together – that’s great! As long as you agree to it beforehand to avoid any embarrassing situations.
Every supermarket will have a Valentines section for you to buy gifts and cards, but they aren’t exactly meaningful gifts. It is wise to take note of the things your partner says off hand throughout the year in order to get them a gift that they not only love but has real meaning behind. Listening to your partner and understanding them better will help you find gifts that are more special than a box of chocolates.
If you aren’t the type of couple to exchange gifts on Valentine’s Day, then sharing a meal together with no interruptions can be the best way to spend the night. You can stay in and cook a romantic meal or book a table at their favourite restaurant. Or even better, bring them to Royal Nawaab’s halal restaurant in London where you can dine on some of Pakistan’s greatest dishes together.
