Tips for organising a wedding

11/11/2019

As weddings are becoming more affordable, they are also getting bigger. Here at Royal Nawaab we are seeing a growing number of weddings each and every year. From small personal affairs to 200 guest weddings, here in our banquet hall we can set up the perfect wedding no matter how grand you want your big day to be.

Organising a big wedding can be stressful to say the least. So, to help you relieve some stress we have shared some of our top tips to help make organising a wedding easier than ever before:

  1. Choosing the date

Everybody knows that a summer wedding is going to be more expensive than any other time due to the popularity of a nice warm summer’s day wedding but what many people don’t think of is to check the date against any events that may be happening which could affect travel or hotel availability. Always check if your preferred wedding date falls on the same day as a trade event, charity conference or a local event; all of these things could put a serious spanner in the works when it comes to your big day.

  1. Look for points on your credit

Most people take out a credit card to put all their wedding costs on. This is a smart idea; consolidating all your costs on to one card helps you keep track of how much you’re spending and makes it easier to avoid going over budget. What you should also be doing, when looking for a credit card, is looking for a card with the best rewards programme. Some give you airline miles, some give you the best shopping deals. Those airline miles could go a long way to helping you afford a better honeymoon and the shopping deals could help pay for the big day.

  1. Balancing the books

It may not be a full-proof way to budget for a wedding but this handy guide can give you a  good starting point and helps you more clearly plan how much to spend on each area of a wedding: 48-50% of you total wedding budget goes to reception; 8-10% for flowers; 8-10% to attire; 8-10% to music and entertainment; 10-12% to photos and videos; 2-3% for invites; 2-3% to gifts; and 8% for miscellaneous items. It is wise to put away an extra 5-10% of your budget aside for any extra expenses that may pop up.
