For over 35 years, Royal Nawaab has been at the forefront of South Asian cuisine, inviting guests on an unforgettable journey through the rich and vibrant flavours of India and Pakistan.
Our founder, Mahboob Hussain, envisioned a place where tradition, authenticity and hospitality meet, creating a unique banquet dining experience that celebrates our culinary heritage.
Building upon the success of our founding restaurant, we have grown and expanded into new locations across London and Greater Manchester, earning the title of the UK’s ‘Curry Kings’.

Our Journey
From a single restaurant in Bradford to revitalising architectural icons, the journey of Mahboob Hussain and Royal Nawaab is a testament to vision, dedication and unwavering passion for hospitality.

1988: A vision born in Bradford
Mahboob Hussain’s journey in the restaurant industry began in 1988 with the opening of his first à la carte restaurant in Bradford, where he earned a reputation for authentic South Asian cuisine and exceptional hospitality.

1995: Mahboob grows his vision with new restaurants
As success grew, Mahboob expanded to Huddersfield, Manchester and even Spain, blending tradition with innovation in South Asian dining.

2002: Transforming Spaces, Redefining Dining
Mahboob transformed an old cinema in Manchester into a grand restaurant, including live cooking stations that are synonymous with Royal Nawaab today.

2014: Royal Nawaab restores Historic Perivale Building
Seeing its beauty and potential, Mahboob restored the Grade II-listed Hoover Building, turning it into a luxurious banqueting venue known today as Royal Nawaab.

2022: Royal Nawaab Ilford opens
For his next project, a 13,000 sq ft retail space in Ilford became a stunning 500-seat dining destination, further strengthening Royal Nawaab’s presence in London.

2024: Reviving an Icon
Mahboob and Royal Nawaab took on their most prestigious project yet – bringing the iconic yet vacant Stockport Pyramid back to life.

2025: Opening the doors to Royal Nawaab Pyramid
The latest and most visually striking Royal Nawaab venue opened in 2025, marking a new chapter in our journey.
At Royal Nawaab, we were proud to be seen on TV, with our restaurant featured on Amazon Prime’s Big Kitchen.
The appearance on the popular food show allowed fans of the Indian banquet hall an inside look at our famous kitchen operations as well as hearing from the characters behind the scenes that inspire the phenomenal drive and ambition of Royal Nawaab.
