Informative Facts About Ramadan

For millions of Muslims around the world, the holy month of Ramadan has officially begun. Between Friday 26th May and Saturday 24th June, from dawn until dusk, all who are able to take part complete a process that is known as fasting and during this time, all food and water is forbidden between the times stated above.

As we live in such a multicultural society, it is likely that many practicing Muslims who will be completing their fast will be work colleagues, neighbours and school friends. The team here at Royal Nawaab have decided to shed some light on the holy month of Ramadan in order to educate our new and old readers…

  1. The start of Ramadan varies from location to location as it is determined by the new moon. This means that its beginning will also change annually. Some Muslims who take part in Ramadan are very particular about the starting of the holy month and will rely on seeing the new moon with the naked eye.
  2. Ramadan is known as Sawm and is one of the five pillars of Islam which means that fasting during the month of Ramadan is an important part of the beliefs in the Islamic religion. The four remaining pillars of Islam include prayer, charity, Hajj and faith.
  3. Not every individual is required to take place in the fasting process and many are exempt due to certain conditions. For example, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not required to take part, nor are those stuffing from physical and mental conditions.

Ramadan is a very important part of the year for millions of Muslims around the world and the team here at Royal Nawaab take pride in being able to provide service during the holy month. Get in contact with the best Indian restaurant in London today for more information about Ramadan!
