A Brief History of India

February 3, 2017

Here at Royal Nawaab, we are all about culture. Culture is a strong part of our restaurant: it is the heart and soul of our food, it is our family and friends and is what you see when you walk through our doors. India is a vast South Asian country with diverse people. It is the seventh-largest country in perimeter, the second-most popular country with over 1.2 billion people. It is also the most populous democracy in the world, it shares land borders with Pakistan. Four religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism originated in India and are still practised to this day.

Our country is strong and powerful,  and we fought our way through slavery. We were brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century. Administered directly by the United Kingdom after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, we became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was led by Mahatma Gandhi. In 2015, the Indian economy was the world’s seventh largest by nominal GDP and third largest by purchasing power! And we hope that our beautiful homeland continues to grow stronger.

As well as a vast range of Indian cuisine, we also serve food that has originated from Pakistan- bringing the 2 cultures together to show the public what beautiful and delicious food that originates from our proud regions.

When it comes down to our food, we take pride in the food we serve,  and we want our dishes to taste as authentic as possible. Therefore, we create delicious, traditional dishes to serve to you. For example, our Biryani is a spicy rice dish with vegetables or chicken or mutton or fish or prawns, we offer this rice dish with meat, vegetables and warming spices. We also provide the popular dish Chicken tikka- which is a chicken dish originating in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent and it is beautiful.

But don’t just take our word for it, book a table for you and some guests to try it yourself. If you like the way those dishes sound, then come and visit the best Indian restaurant Manchester has to offer!
