Best Indian Dishes For Vegetarians

November 5, 2016

There’s not much worse than being a vegetarian and going out for a meal with friends to find that the restaurant only serves dishes that contain meat. It’s an incredibly awkward moment in which you don’t want to draw too much attention to the fact that either you don’t like the vegetarian option, or that there just isn’t one- and you end up just sitting there trying to quietly order a side salad without making too much of a fuss.

Fortunately, Indian cuisine provides a wide range of options for vegetarians- so much so, in fact, that you are bound to find yourself spoilt for choice. Well, we’re here at Nawaab to run you through some of the most popular Indian vegetarian dishes, to show you why our restaurants are perfect for veggies and to help you decide what to order on your next visit!

–        Mutter Paneer: This is perhaps the most popular Indian dish for vegetarians, and is a delicious mix of a tomato sauce, peas and cottage cheese to create an outstanding curry. This can be eaten as either a side dish or a main, and goes great with a Naan or Chapati.

–        Aloo Gobi: This is a delicious blend of cauliflowers, potatoes and a mixture of tongue tingling spices- and is probably the most popular vegetarian side dish. This dry dish goes great with a saucy curry, as it soaks up the sauce and explodes with flavour.

–        Malai Kofta: For any vegetarians out there that have had a sudden craving for meatballs, then they should certainly take a look at Malai Kofta. This is often eaten to celebrate special occasions as it is so tasty, and it takes a long time to make. Plate this up with a Naan or some rice and you’ll never want to order anything different ever again!

–        Chole: This is essentially a curry made from chickpeas, and has been a vegetarian favourite for a long time now. It is a delicious main dish that is perfect for mopping up with a Naan or a Chapati.

These are just a few examples of the huge range of vegetarian dishes available in our Indian restaurant in Manchester, and please don’t hesitate to contact our dedicated team for any further info on our menus!
