A Guide to Indian Style Dining

October 11, 2017

Since we live in a multicultural society it is only right that we all try to learn about the different traditions that encompass the way we all live. Take Indian dining for example. The culture is deeply rooted in the food that is eaten and there are several variations that set it apart from other cuisines. Here is a simple guide…

Drinking

During traditional Indian dining you should never pour your own drink and you should always be aware as to whether your neighbours glass requires refilling. If it is less than half full then it needs a top up, which can be done by pouring some of your own into their glass.

Making a Toast

As an honoured guest you are generally required to make a toast after the host or at the end of the meal.

Dining with your Hands

Indian culture is known for eating with your hands however there are several rules to follow. It is important to wash your hands at the start and end of the meal and always use your right hand for eating and picking up food. In addition to this, the left hand shouldn’t be placed on the table.

Eating in Restaurants

Sometimes a traditional Indian restaurant may require men and women to dine separately rather than as one however this may not always be the case.

Here at Royal Nawaab we like to pride ourselves on being a traditional and respected halal restaurant in London that offers an outstanding array of Indian and Pakistani cuisine that is certain to impress. Alongside our 5* service, you can be sure that your experience will be as enjoyable as the food itself.
