Independence Day of Pakistan in London

August 14, 2015

Today is the Independence Day of Pakistan and we’re celebrating!

As a Pakistani restaurant in London we’ve been looking forward to celebrating this annual event. In London there are a number of events happening this year.

The Pakistan High Commission London UK will be closed on Friday to celebrate Independence Day. A flag hoisting ceremony is to be held in the morning by the High Commissioner Begum Syed Ibne Abbas.

It has been 68 years since Pakistan formally declared and celebrated independence in 1947. The fourteenth of August is a national holiday celebrated annually.

Modern Pakistan is a creation of territories that were originally under the British Raj which lasted from 1858 to 1947.

The Pakistan Movement has been regarded as the primary reason for creating Pakistan into an independent country. Many talks about independence started in the 1920s and 1930s until they achieved victory after WW2.

Fourteenth of August was selected as the national holiday for Pakistan. Viceroy Louis Mountbatten selected the fourteenth so he could be present in India for their Independence Day the following day.

This year Royal Nawaab has worked with Pakistan Culture Club and we are featured in their annual magazine edition.

As a Pakistani restaurant in London we believe it is important to celebrate our national holiday and we hope if you are looking for somewhere to celebrate you will come and visit us on today.
