To celebrate the achievements of Asian restaurants across the UK, The Asian Catering Federation has created an 80-venue shortlist for this years inaugural Asian Restaurant Awards.
The awards, open to Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese Restaurants and Takeaways across the UK, takes place on the 5th March.
In a move away from curry awards, The Asian Catering Federation looks to include the entirety of Asian cuisine being produced, celebrating the diversity amongst some of the worlds greatest cuisines.
The ACF is a newly formed organisation bringing together personnel within the Asian food industry. Striving to deliver returns for all their members within the Asian catering industry, helping them find financial success, achieve excellence, and build customer loyalty.
The Nominees have received over 100,000 public votes across the 13 categories to create the shortlist. The venues will now be inspected by a panel of judges, including Cobra Good Curry Guide Editor, Pat Chapman, who will assess each on their quality of food and cooking, as well as the ambience, décor, customer service, community involvement and hygiene.
The awards were brought about to recognise the skills and efforts of an industry that employs over 100,000 people and contributes more than £4.2 billion to the UK economy.
The Best Asian Restaurant award covers venues across the UK, divided into the areas of London, South East, South West, Midlands, North, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Other categories include Best Takeaway, Best Thai, Best Japanese, Best Chinese and a special Lifetime Achievement award.
There will also be new sets of awards for Technology Company of the year; Best Value Asian Eatery; Best Buffet Restaurant; Best Outside Caterer; Gourmet Asian Restaurant of the Year; Best Takeaway; Best Asian Street Food; Best Asian Fusion Food; Asian Restaurateur of the Year; Asian Chef of the Year; Best Restaurant Supplier and Man/Woman of the Year.
The awards will take place at the Manchester Hilton where Royal Nawaab’s Halal Restaurant Manchester will be competing for The North of England category and Mahmood Hussain will be hoping to gain another lifetime achievement award.
